When a woman finds out that she is having trouble conceiving or is infertile, it can bring on a whole new world of stress levels and sadness. She may feel guilt or embarrassment on her behalf because she cannot create the child that she so desperately wants to have. Thankfully, the world of medicine has created many different solutions to help women ovulate, thus making it easier for her to have a baby with her partner if she pleases. On of these medicines has been used very often in the world of infertility, and is known as one of the most used medications. This medicine is of course called Clomid. And it is changing the lives of women everywhere around the world.
But what is the medication Clomid, exactly?
Clomid is a type of medication that is taken orally, and it can be used to help a woman ovulate. How it works is that it blocks the estrogen receptors in the woman’s body, and this is important because the woman’s “”hormonal control center”” controls many things in her body. After taking the medication, the hypothalamus (an organ in the body) is told to release a type of hormone called (FSH) and another called (LH). Both of these hormones occur very naturally in a woman’s body, and are the cause of ovulation when she normally has her cycle. The medication only speeds up this process, and allows women who don’t ovulate naturally to ovulate in time to create a baby.
While the medication Clomid has been proven to be a milder and perhaps even more safer form of infertility medication than other brands that are brand new on the market, there should still be some caution before buying or taking any form of this medicine. Some of these side effects may include and are not limited to visual changes, reversible hair thinning, dizziness, or hives. However, these symptoms are known to be very rare in women taking this medication. In other rare situations, women will have hyper stimulation of the ovaries after they take this medication, which makes their ovaries make more follicles than are needed. There is also an increased chance that the woman who is taking these infertility medications will have a twin birth. The risks of a multiple birth are increased by at least 6 percent in most healthy women. There have been no real conclusive studies that show Clomid is something that will give women ovarian cancer.
Even though Clomid has been proved to be safe, be sure that if you are going to be taking this medication, you get permission from your doctor or family physician first. This is because there could be fake versions of this medicine being sold on the black market that could be dangerous to your health. Always remember to buy all of your prescription medications from a trusted doctor or pharmacy. And always be very wary of any forms of these capsules being sold online. Remember that the short embarrassment that may be felt from visiting a medical professional about this problem will never be worth your life in the end.
